Safer Internet Day 2024 will take place on the 6th of February 2024, with celebrations and learning based around the theme ‘Inspiring change? Making a difference, managing influence and navigating change online’.
Safer Internet Day is the UK’s biggest celebration of online safety. Each year we cover an online issue or theme that speaks to the things young people are seeing and experiencing online.
This Year East Lothian Council is setting all schools a Cyber Resilience and Internet Safety Challenge related to the theme of Safer Internet Day which is ‘Inspiring change? Making a difference, managing influence and navigating change online’.
The aim of this challenge is to enable learners to switch places with teachers, allowing them to teach their peers how to be safer online. The challenge is open for schools to engage with at a time that suits them, there is no timeframe set.
The Slide Deck below explains the necessary steps to participate in this challenge and any submitted lessons will be considered for inclusion in the new East Lothian Cyber Resilience and Internet Safety programme which is currently being developed in collaboration with Police Scotland and Education Scotland.
