During the Game Jam 2024 we will be joined online by several working professionals in the games and tech industry. Each presenter will give a short 20 minute insight to their job, how they got there and some of the cool projects they have or are currently working on. All sessions will be recorded and hosted on this page alongside any complimentary notes.
Luci Holland - Tinderbox Collective (Music Composer for Games)

First up we have Luci Holland, an award-winning Scottish composer who writes music for games, film and concert. She composed the soundtracks for the game Murderous Pursuits (2018) and the film Sayo (2020), more recently has worked on CRT7, Playhead, and Personasmith (all games currently in development), and is currently working on several other virtual reality and mobile games projects. She also presents a weekly radio show all about game music called The Console on Scala Radio, and works with music and arts groups like Tinderbox in Edinburgh!
Niall Ridgway - Tablet Academy Scotland

Niall has been a Primary Educator and ASN specialist for a number of years but recently made a move from the classroom into the world of Digital Education Specialist
Working for TA Scotland and Digitize Niall’s role over the past 2 and half years has been full of travel visiting schools across the UK. Working closely with Google and Microsoft Niall has an impressive skill set that he will share with us during this session.
Niall has many strings to his digital bow, and he has planned a Scratch related task for you during the session. Keep an eye out for Niall during the Game Jam as he provides the input for lesson 14.
Paula Lucas - Artist

Paula Lucas is the Lead Artist at Ant Workshop and has been making games for just over 10 years. As a generalist in an Indie team, she has been involved in all stages of production: conceptsing, making characters in 3D, bringing them to life with animation and getting them working in game. Her favourite part about making games is the collaborative creative process and the fun of seeing people enjoying the work and love that's been poured into creating them!

Mellony Bertram - East Lothian Council (UNCRC)

Join this session to explore this year's theme, UNCRC and why having rights are so important. Find out more about what having these right mean and how to respect the rights. This session promises to be fun, interactive and fast paced! Be prepared to join in!
Mal Abbas - Biome Collective (Game Designer)

Malath Abbas is a game designer, artist and creative producer working on experimental and meaningful games and experiences in Scotland. Malath is a founding member of Biome Collective, a creative studio, community and digital space for people to create, collaborate and explore new frontiers in game design, digital art and technology. With over 10 years working in games and arts in Scotland, Malath has created a collection of work and has shared this internationally.
Nils Lockean - Senior Software Developer (TextHelp)

Meet Nils Lockean, a Senior Software Developer and Tech Lead at Texthelp in Sweden. With 12 years of experience, Nils is all about making technology more accessible and user-friendly, especially through building browser extensions. Additionally, he is a climbing enthusiast, currently training to become a rock climbing instructor. Join Nils as he scales new heights in software development and adventure!
