After this lesson you should have the ability to write a conclusion that successfully wraps up up the piece in a way that leaves the audience satisfied.
Here to There (Wavelength)
Writers want to finish their writing in a way that signals to their audience that the piece is finished. The conclusion should help to wrap up the piece in a way that leaves the audience satisfied.
Similar to the previous day's lesson on leads, we want to create a list of conclusion techniques that students can consult when crafting their conclusions.
Some Techniques for Conclusions:
Add humour (One Pricey Potty, Chimp Climbs the Charts)
Tuck in some additional information (Students Strike Over Homework)
Tie all the pieces together (Why Sloths Are So Slow)
As a class we will brainstorm some possible alternative conclusions for the mentor texts.
Create different a conclusion for one of your own Real or Fake paragraphs.
Students will have 5 minutes to complete this task and then students can share their work with the class.
Students will then have the remainder of the lesson to continue their writing.
If you have finished your text you can begin revising it using the Revision Checklist.
