Spyfall
Students will be learning how to write a reading journal entry (which will be in their reading notebook). This is an opportunity for the students to reflect on what they are reading and show their understanding of their independent reading novel. This practice will also be used to assess whether students have selected books that are either too difficult/easy and how much reading they are doing at home.
Write a journal entry in your reading notebook.
What you could potentially write about:
Write about what you like or dislike about a book and why.
Write about parts of your book that puzzled you or made you ask questions.
Write about what you noticed about the characters, such as what made them act as they did or how they changed.
Was there a moment that stood out to you while reading? Why?
Write about the connections that you made while reading the book.
Write about how it reminds you of yourself, of people you know, or of something that happened in your life. It might remind you of other books, especially the characters, events, or the setting.
Evidence from the text to support your thinking is vital.
Students will be given time to review what they have read and read more if they need more material.
Students have the opportunity to write a longer response, attempting to answer some of the more difficult questions.
We will reflect on some of the students' responses.
