After this lesson you should know / understand how to structure a persuasive paragraph.
Lesson 1:
In order to ensure that our reasons and supports are well-organized, we will be using a specific structure while writing persuasive paragraphs.
You will look at the information in two paragraphs and identify the opinion, reasons and supports. This practice will help you once you begin writing your own paragraphs with a planner.
Here is the example of what you will need to do for the other two paragraphs, which will will go through as a class.
Organize the next two paragraphs into their planners. Please complete this task in the document on Google Classroom.
Lesson 2:
Planner to Paragraph
Your task today will be to practice just the structure of a paragraph.
This is the structure that we have been studying and that you are going to use.
Opinion
1st Reason
Support your reason
2nd Reason
Support your reason
3rd Reason
Support your reason
Wrap up
I am going to provide you with a completed planner so you do not have to think about your ideas yet. This is a chance for you to take ideas that are on the planner and turn them into an organized paragraph. Remember, a planner does not include all of the information that you have in your completed paragraph. You need to include additional information, beyond what is on the planner, when writing your paragraph.
Instructions:
Use the ideas on this planner to write a persuasive paragraph.
The opinion and the wrap-up have been written in complete sentences for you already. You can just copy them.
Return to one of your previous works and try to organize it into the persuasive paragraph planner.
Students will share their writing and see how their work might have differed from their classmates.
