Activity:
You will read through two paragraphs about the same topic.
Please identify the different W facts in the 1st paragraph. You will then do the same for the 2nd paragraph.
We will then discuss the differences that you notice.
Today, when you are writing, you will be using your planner to remind you of the facts that you want to use in your paragraph. Your thinking work will be organize the information in a way that you think makes it clear and interesting to your audience. It probably will not be in the same order as the information on the planner (information organizer).
Students can take the first few minutes to complete another information organizer.
Students who do not have a completed planner must brainstorm, come up with an idea, and complete a planner before writing a paragraph.
Students who have a completed planner can begin composing a paragraph.
Students who have noticed gaps in their facts should take their planners home in order to do the necessary research.
Students who do not have an information organizer prepared for the next writing lesson should take one home and complete it for homework.
