Content
Organization:
Ex/Opening sentence, closing sentence, transition words, text features, order of information
Content:
Ex/ specific facts and details, examples, specialized vocabulary, statistics, dates, quotes, locations, names.
Students will get a copy of one of the two mentor texts, One Pricey Potty or Full Stomach Causes Sneezes. They will annotate the sample to note where they find specific things the author has done to support their audience in learning about the topic.
Students will be asked to complete an information organizer using the information from their text. These information organizers will be used when planning our own informational texts. This will allow students to see how the authors could have planned their texts before writing.
We will reconvene as a class and discuss samples and observations using the document camera. We will also record a list of content.
