The radio man had many songs to play
Love, pop, and rap songs were on the playlist that day
All the songs he played were always new
The people’s minds he blew
The person he was didn’t seem very important to those who listened in the car
He stayed far from the city and lived only with his guitar
He wrote every song he played on the radio
And recorded them all night in his own studio
Daily, people all around the word listened to pick their favorite song
But, on Monday, June 18, something went wrong
No songs were playing on the radio that day
Had the brilliant radio man forgotten the normal way?
Days and days went by without a single tune
The sad people were becoming immune
No one knew the his name
But a young boy at the age of seven rose to proclaim,
“We will find the radio man
yes we can!”
Puffing out his chest
He set out on the quest
After weeks went past,
The boy had found the radio man at last.
The man was so eagerly working on his guitar string,
He didn’t hear the doorbell ring.
The boy walked into the small, raggy home,
There was not much room to roam;
He tapped the man gently on his shoulder and startled him,
The man’s old face looked grim.
“I’m afraid I cannot play anymore,” he said,
Those were the words that the boy had dreaded.
“My mind is beating and my heart is starting to think,” the man uttered.
The boy looked to the corner and saw all of the mail
None of them had an address,
but only were titled “Dear Mr. Radio Man.”
The letters only consisted of the songs they wanted to hear
And conclude with a simple, “Thanks.”
No one cared about who he was
Or how he was.
“They don’t like the music I play;
They wish for other things,” he said.
A slight breeze had made the dust dance on the floor of the small one-room home.
“Don’t listen to them,” the boy whispered.
“The ones who truly listen closely to you
Can hear the heart and truth in between the lyrics;
Your music makes me happy.”
The man smiled from ear to ear:
“I will make music for all to hear!”
The radio man soon rose.
