In My Dreams

Haley Butler: Thalassophobia

Catherine Van Haute: in my dreams

I look around and observe

The problems and concerns the world serves

And once again I decide, I need to escape reality

I drift off and flee into my dreams

Where my spirit will roam free

It is in my dreams where imagination runs wild

And all pain and suffering is exiled

The grass presents a lovely hue of radiant green

While reality’s dreariness goes unseen

The desolate gray in the sky

Transforms to a lucid blue that catches my eye

It is in my dreams where

All the war cries transform

Into the sweet sounds of a dove

Where life flourishes

And sorrow is replaced with glee

Yet still, they ask why I prefer dreams over reality

And I reply,

A dream is a beautiful lie

but reality is a painful truth
