9th - 10th Grade: HYPE stands for Hope for Youth through Providing Education. The HYPE Project is a 12-week coding program for young girls of color. In HYPE, we developed leadership, learned about all sorts of tech, and connected with others, etc. In my first week through the program, I learned about the five characteristics of a HYPE Scholar and was able to demonstrate all five, the core fundamentals of programming (Algorithms, Loops, Condition Statements, and Variables), how to create a web page using HTML & CSS, and learned about the Design Thinking Process and got a chance to demonstrate it during an Innovation Challenge.
Here are some of my creations made during the program:
Javascript Personality Quiz (you click your answer for each question and go down to the next one. After you answer them all, your type will appear at the bottom of the page)
10th Grade: This year, I was nominated for the HYPE Leadership Academy for an 8-week program. I engaged in numerous lessons about time management, workplace attire and behavior, etc. I also got to speak with real professionals, such as the tech officials from State Farm, and they even gave me tips to perfect my resume. I really appreciate everything I've learned through this program, my affiliation with HYPE, and all the connections I've made. I am a graduate of the HYPE Leadership Program and successfully obtained an internship with Trees Atlanta.
Graduation Certificate
Badges received whilst participating in the program
Swag and gifts from HYPE and its sponsors, such as State Farm and Mailchimp
11th grade: I served as a HYPE Ambassador, helping to spread awareness about this outstanding program and its benefits. I appreciate my time as a student ambassador because I learned more about one's social media presence and how it can be used as an avenue for change.
