See-Saw Candle
Science Club (Seniors)
Candles whose both ends were cut to expose their wicks were taken. Initially, the heavier end was at the bottom, but then both sides were ignited, and the see-saw balanced itself.
It was observed that each time a candle melts the force acting on them gets unbalanced and candles move up and down like a see-saw. After some time when both the ends of the candle have an equal amount of wax, the force acting on them gets balanced and the movement of the candle almost stops.
Snake Talk
Science Club
Students of Grade V indulged in Snake Talk. Students came up with creative snake puppets and delivered a talk during the club meeting. They shared some amazing facts about different types of snakes living around the world. Children were also sensitized about the government laws which state that no one can catch and keep snakes as pets.
THE MUSIC CLUB
“Music is, to the soul what words are to the mind.”
DPS Lava conducts non-sporting activities for Grades 1 to 10 through various Clubs. These clubs meet twice a week. One of these is the ‘MUSIC CLUB’. Our music teachers are Nikhil Sir and Vishal Sir. They are the ultimate! They teach us several musical instruments like Guitar, Keyboard, Tabla, Congo, Drums, Electric Guitar, Harmonium, and Flute. Children who excel get to participate in various music competitions hosted by other schools.
Students also learn vocal music and their sweet-as-sugar voice undergoes rigorous training. Nikhil Sir ensures that these children do 'riyaaz' regularly.
Sarah Khumushi of Grade IX, is learning to play the guitar for 8 years now. She plays melodious tunes on the guitar and even guides other students. Divya Kewlani is a fabulous tabla player, whereas Saanvi Mishra and Rhea are the nightingales of our school.
The junior members are an enthusiastic lot. On club meeting days, the school reverberates with the sounds of percussion, strings and vocals.
