APPROACH
Theoretical
Theoretical-philosophical course that focuses on Beauty and on the perceptive effects associated with the use of new media as new means of artistic expression. Starting from the phenomenological and hermeneutic tradition, it observes the impact of new technologies on the aesthetic scenario - images, sounds, space - generating new cultures and sensitivity.
The programme consists of one single module, which grants 6 credits.
Successful students will be able to:
Develop a historical and epistemological talk about the aesthetic of media, correctly using the disciplinary language
Set-up, devise and develop a critical and original talk about the role of images in the contemporary media scenario
Introduction to the ideas that characterise the disciplinary approach in ancient, modern and contemporary times
Phenomenology of aesthetic perception in the new multimedia scenario
Overview on the contemporary scenario: how the experience of beauty changes in the expressive forms/works in relation to the diffusion of virtual reality, technical reproducibility, experiential immersion
This is a theoretical/project based course.
The students will take part in the following activities, which may vary depending on the development of different projects:

Workshops
Individual or group projects
Individual or group study and research
Assessment tools may include:
Mid-term written exam: open questions on the themes covered in class
Written exam
Optional oral exam
