APPROACH
Theoretical/project based
The project lab focuses on the introduction to the world of compositing and on the understanding of the key elements of post-production. The course also teaches the basic functions of the NUKE software through targeted shots and practical training.
The programme consists of one single module, which grants 8 credits.
Successful students will be able to:
Identify the main techniques and uses of compositing and post-production
Carry out a critical analysis of existing projects
Carry out composition and post-production on the basis of the project concept
Confidently manage the different media involved in order to devise a project and subsequently implement it
Understand and define a reference market
Consistently manage all project phases
Develop a collection based on a specific theme
Identify and solve the main technical issues related to a collection
Manufacture prototypes that are consistent with the project
VFX - history, use, pipeline
Compositing - basics
Nuke: interface, use of the node system
Nuke: 2D animation
Nuke: colour correction
Nuke: worping and morphing
Nuke: keying, matte, rotoscoping
Nuke: matchmoving, cleaning, 2D set extension, 2D make-up
This is a theoretical/project based course.
The students will take part in the following activities, which may vary depending on the development of different projects:
Classroom lectures
Use of tutorials, videos or other media tools
Exercises and revisions
Workshops
Individual or group projects
Individual or group study and research
Assessment tools may include:
Completion of a project
Oral exam
