APPROACH
Theoretical/project based
This course provides the foundations for the design of Computer Graphics sceneries. Through the analysis of lighting, from photo-realism to cartoon, the course will go into the techniques for the creation of textures and shaders. Also, it will focus on the use of HDRI, photography basics and final compositing of the scene.
The programme consists of one single module, which grants 6 CFA credits.
Successful students will be able to:
Identify the main elements of a digital set
Carry out a technical-critical analysis of the main tools needed for lighting and shading processes in CG
Conceive and develop 3D lighting projects
Colour theory
Basics of photography
Introduction to rendering systems
Lighting
Shading
Integration of characters and sceneries through compositing techniques
This is a theoretical/project based course.
Students will take part in the following activities, which may vary depending on the different topics covered:
Classroom lectures
Use of tutorials, videos or other media tools
Exercises and revisions
Workshops
Individual or group projects
Individual or group study and research
Assessment tools may include:
Completion of a project
Oral exam
