GIVE AND TAKE RELATIONSHIP
God created humans in his feature, but each of us is unique in our way. We differ in every aspect of our life, from potential, skills, talents, intelligence, etc. Teachers serve as the students' second parents to guide them in developing their strengths and overcoming their weaknesses. To meet the students' differences, the teacher must develop an effective way of imparting knowledge that does not focus on the topic itself but addresses the students' differences as a student-teacher is conducting limited face-to-face class in Panarayon Elementary School. To test their learning, I conducted an assessment that aligns with the objectives and their needs. Assignments, projects, quizzes, and recitation serves as my basis for determining learners' progress and performances. Their response to these assessments emphasizes the depth of their learning about the lesson they gained.
It was heartwarming to witness and receive my students ' responses for almost one and half months of my field practice at Panarayon Elementary School, handling grade 4 learners. When I was assigned to the grade 4 luna learners, I made a lot of adjustments and a lot of struggles I overcame to equip them with the quality learning they deserve. I struggled a lot in giving them activities in line with their level. There were times that I made a proposal activity in mathematics just for them to learn and master the multiplication table. I also lowered my standard like I used my mother tongue while teaching English just for them to understand the stories and questions. Despite these struggles, I learned that patience and understanding are the keys to nurturing the child.
I am thankful to them because they did not hesitate and give their efforts and willingness to learn despite those challenges and adjustments. It's gratifying and a significant achievement as a teacher to know that I teach positivity within them. I call the give and take relationship between teacher and students. They appreciated and valued my efforts, and they touched me so much. I am motivated to wake up every day to teach them by saying thank you after the class and sharing their stories when free, especially by sending me their feedback or comments during my final demo. I can't express how happy and thankful I am, and I will surely treasure those words, bonding moments, and other memories forever.
As a future teacher, I believe that the students' works and feedback reflect what kind of a teacher I am. Receiving feedback motivates me to do better and pursue my dream of being a teacher. I realized that teaching is not about imparting knowledge at your level of standards. Instead, it is also about adjusting and embracing the learning at the level of the learners.
