Next Meeting: SIT Kick-off Meeting, April 20th, 2026
Project Overview
Simon Elementary is a DC Public School located in Ward 8. The existing Simon ES building was built in 1950. The project is an approximately 76,000 square foot school facility, comprising a combination of renovation of the existing structure and new construction of an approximately 8,600 square foot, single story addition building.
The project will provide new Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems, and replace the entire existing roof structure. A connector will be built to connect the new addition building to the renovated, existing structure. The project will provide all new playgrounds, parking and loading facilities and build a new active flood barrier system around the entire existing, renovated school building. The modernized Simon Elementary building will be re-opening its doors to students, staff and the Simon community in Summer 2029, in time for School Year, 2029-30.
