Next SIT Meeting - TBA
Project Overview
Miner Elementary is a DC Public School located in Ward 7. The project will comprise the complete renovation of the existing historic building to create new early childhood learning spaces, including a new food service space. The design will include nine (9) classrooms and multiple discovery commons spaces, instructional support spaces, and administrative offices. The project will also include outdoor play areas, including equipment, for children in the early childhood program and a covered walkway connecting the Old Miner facility to Miner Elementary School.
The anticipated Early Childhood Education (ECE) Center program requires a total of about 25,000 square feet. DCPS intends to renovate space within the existing, unoccupied facility next to Miner ES to serve Pre-K3 and Pre-K4. Five, 1st floor classrooms in the existing Miner building will be renovated to fit a 4-classroom Child Development Center (CDC) for children ages 0-3.
