Next Meeting: Concept Design SIT Meeting (Part 1) : Date May 13th, 2026
Project Overview
Bunker Hill Elementary is a DC Public School located in Ward 5. The original Bunker Hill ES building was built in 1883, with an addition in 1911. This building was subsequently demolished, with the existing Bunker Hill ES building built in 1940. Alterations and additions followed in 1958.
The modernization project is an approximately 81,000 square foot school facility, comprising a combination of renovation of the existing structure and new construction. The project will provide all new playgrounds, parking and loading facilities, and is anticipated to maintain the existing court yard. The modernized Bunker Hill ES building will be re-opening its doors to students, staff and the Bunker Hill community in Summer 2029, in time for School Year (SY) 2029-30.
