Welcome to Pre-Algebra. This year will be an exciting year where we will continue building on what students learned in 6th grade and build construct further understanding and skills. This course is intended to prepare students to progress into Algebra 1. It is a foundational math course that will provide students the core math skills needed to progress further in the field of mathematics. A focus will be put on the application and uses of the mathematical skills learned and how they related to real life. The skills learned in middle school are essential to carry students through high school and beyond.

Students should:
Come to class prepared with all necessary course materials, math notebook, binder, and writing utensils
Follow principals of high quality math writing
Check Google Classroom on a daily basis for assignments, documents, etc. Contact teacher if unable to access it.
Complete and submit assessments on time.
Come to class with a positive attitude and a growth mindset
Show kindness, open-mindedness, and respect to peers.
Do not be afraid to ask questions or seek help
Leave your space tidy when you exit the room
Students can expect the following from the teacher concerning the following:
GOOGLE CLASSROOM - All assignments will be posted in Google Classroom. If you are having trouble locating it, contact the teacher.
RUBRICS AND POLICIES - Once posted here they should not change. However, if a change is necessary the teacher will inform students well in advance and will clearly mark the changes.
Principles of high quality math writing:
1. Show all your work
2. Write vertically
3. Write clearly so anybody can read and understand your working
4. Write big (no mouse math!)
5. Circle your answer
