Course Description
In this course students will continue building on what they learned in 5th grade and build further understanding and skills. We will be covering an introduction to algebra, proportional relationships, geometry, probability and statistics. It is a foundational math course that will provide students the core math skills needed to progress further in the field of mathematics. A focus will be put on the application and uses of the mathematical skills learned and how they related to real life. The skills learned in middle school are essential to carry students through high school and beyond.

- In Class Project "Percent of me" helps students engaged in a language activity by brainstorming a list of their own characteristics, and also engaged in a math activity by creating a circle graph illustrating their precents and ensuring the precents add up to 100%.

- Project "Ratio Poster " helps students engaged in cooperating in groups to solve different questions and express a ratio in visual ways using a table, a coordinate plane, a tape diagram and double lines.
- Project " Unit Rate/Proportion" helps students apply their proportional reasoning skills using multiplication patterns (horizontal, vertical, cross) and calculate unit rates. It provides collaborative motivation to complete the practice problems. Every student has different problems allowing them to engage in meaningful math conversations without copying. Each students' worksheet is a small part of the large Owl mosaic.

Follow Check-in retake procedures. Submit all homework, book appointment with your teacher and wait for it to be accepted.
