A blueberry muffin, is it the best muffin there is? The blueberry muffin is usually served as a breakfast item. Visually, the blueberry muffin can either be blue or white, depending whether or not the blueberries bleed into the batter.
When Chef Beplat was assigned to the bakery, his first thought was that we need a good muffin that everyone can enjoy. Before landing on the current recipe we use he went through multiple other recipes. The recipes he tried didn't sit right with him because he felt like they could have been better. After a few disheartening days his wife came to him with a recipe known as the Jordan Marsh blueberry muffin.
Jordan Marsh was the first established department store. A part of their store in Boston had a bakery which became famous for their blueberry muffins among other things. These blueberry muffins are famous all over New England.

Chef's Note: There is such a short season for blueberries around here. I feel like they are ready for local picking for only about three weeks give or take. My spot for picking is Holmberg's Orchard up Route 12. In the summer they have a pick your own and I love to go for both blueberries and raspberries. How fun would it be to arrange a day for anyone interested to meet and pick this summer?
After a few years of trials I have decided my favorite way to eat ...
Blueberries - with full fat local yogurt or just as a snack with nothing else
Raspberries - with a splash of cream and a drizzle of honey. The insides of the raspberries soak up the cream in the most delicious way!
Both - Still warm from the sun and not refrigerated. (Unless keeping them for more than 2 days)
In September of 2019 we hosted a PD for the Culinary Arts and Hospitality cluster here at Grasso Tech. These blueberry muffins were one of the items that we produced for the morning buffet. Amazingly enough, multiple chefs from the other schools commented on the quality of the muffins. Some of them even reference the Jordan Marsh muffin.
