Is it OK to find inspiration from a Burger King breakfast? That is probably debatable, however as I have already professed my love for French Toast (in fact I made some at home yesterday morning from a baguette that I found in my freezer) sometimes you just don't have enough time in the morning to sit down for a proper breakfast. Thinking back to my high school days I am sure that there were plenty of times where I was racing out the door and felt the need to stop and grab a quick bite before showing up for homeroom. Burger King would have to do on those days (though they certainly don't compare to a proper version).Â
Our version here at school uses a rich brioche dough that when soaked has such a custard like consistency it could be considered closer to a dessert than a breakfast item. In fact...hmmm... perhaps a delicious future buffet dessert in the future. With the caramel sauce in place of traditional maple syrup how could you go wrong?
