#7 Most Popular Sandwich in the World
This sandwich is one of my favorite easy lunches. It helped that it was always available for a quick snack in the French restaurants that I have worked in. The sandwich is unique in that instead of a typical spread of mayo or something similar, a creamy Mornay sauce (Bechamel with the addition of Parmesan Cheese) is applied to both sides of the bread. This creates a rich sauce that blends well with the Swiss Cheese and ham. A touch of caramelized onions adds a hint of savory sweetness as well.

I remember ordering one in an airport restaurant in Marseille that was so crusty and old I almost cried. You can also typically order the sandwich with a fried egg on top. During 9th grade, one of the curriculum units of study is on sandwiches. To go along with this unit I assign the students a project in which they will choose a sandwich from a list of the "Top 50 sandwiches in the world". They then research the sandwich, and prepare a presentation that they will give verbally in front of the class. I find that giving the students the opportunity to practice public speaking multiple times early on in their high school career (as well as meeting clear expectations) helps them to appreciate the process and get more comfortable before presenting more formally to the administrative panel as seniors. It also builds confidence when they start interviewing for jobs. Below I have linked two presentations that students created as an example for you to look at.
