For Paper 1 in the IB Language and Literature course, you will have 1 hour and 45 minutes to write 2  guided textual analysis during your external assessment.   This is a critical examination of 2 UNSEEN TEXTS  where you are  expected to interpret TWO TEXTS through your  well-organized written responses. 

The purpose of Paper 1 is to show that you can understand a variety of texts and how they have been crafted to affect specific audiences, what the purpose of the text is, and  how it conveys ideas through social, political, or historical context. 

Understanding the  common features  (techniques, appeals, choices) is fundamental to responding to the demands of this task. The FEATURES will form the basis of your thesis statement.
