Teachers can post announcements or discussion starters from the Stream page.
From the Stream area
Type discussion topic or question in the 'Share something with our class....' area.
Make sure settings allow students to comment. (Check the Gear Wheel in upper right corner)
Control Permissions
Each student gets their own copy of the Word Sort Activity in this demonstration.
Assignment Settings
Click Add to attach a file to the assignment.
Once attachment is visible, click the down arrow to select how it will share with students.
Students can View, Students can Edit, Make a copy for each student

Create an assignment.
Add the desired item from Google Drive by clicking 'Add' or Create a new item by clicking 'Create.'
When it appears, Select 'Students can edit file from the options.'
Ideas for use:
Show and Tell, Open House Slideshow with slide for each student, created by students, Collect data from group, event planning
With this option, all students who have this assignment will be editing on the item.*
*Permission to share must be set in Google drive for each file.
