Chibi light explanation video #1.webm

Set-up the Lesson (I do)

This video shows what the finished product will look like and gives a brief explanation of the purpose of the materials and how a simple circuit works.

Show this video to your students as a group so they know what to expect when they begin working on their own circuit.

Chibi Light How to Tutorial.webm

Small Group Building (We do)

This video serves as a tutorial for how to create the circuit. It details how to make turns with the copper tape, how the battery should be positioned, and how the orientation of the chibi light matters due to positive and negative flows of current.

Use this video to help students be ready to make their own. Show the video to a small group of students, then give them the materials and guide them as they assemble their lights.

Incorporate language arts by having the students write their own set of instructions after watching the video using sequence words.

Decorate The Circuit (You do)

Once the simple circuit is complete, let the students get creative and turn their light into something fun! This video shows a very simple way to use an index card and some markers to turn the light into something special.

As each group working with the teacher finished building their circuit, this can be an activity that they can work on independently.

Students could also watch this video before coming to the group area to build their circuit so they can start to formulate a plan for what they will build with their creation.
