Extension for Lesson 1

Think about what you learned from the Extinction Safari.  Select one of the animals that is now extinct.  Imagine what type of adaptation might have saved it from extinction. Write a paragraph about the adaptation and why it might have saved the animal.

Lesson 2  - Biomes Museum

Mission Objective: Discover the Flipgrid password so you can add a post about your animal adaptation from lesson 1.

Visit the Biomes Museum in the Expedition Safari! Minecraft World. Complete the Google Form(embedded below) using the information found in the Biome Museum.  Collect the letters provided in the form to spell a word that will unlock the Flipgrid linked below.

Two ways to get to the Biome Museum: Ride the rollercoaster all the way to the end and follow the signs, or teleport there by clicking the Biome Museum button in the welcome message.

Add a post to this Flip explaining which animal you selected to save from extinction with an adaptation. (Use the paragraph you wrote as a script.)

Extension for Lesson 2

The curator at the Biome Museum needs a brochure to share with guests to serve as a guide and map of the museum.  It must be color-coded to help visitors stay on the right path.  Use the media of your choice to create a brochure/map of the museum that will help guests navigate the museum more easily.

Visit The Deforestation Zone

Mission Objective: Create a journal about your experience in the Deforestation zone that reflects the impact humans can have on the habitat of animals.

How to get there: Upon entering the Extinction Safari World, click the Biome Museum button on the welcome message.  Walk along the left side of the Biome building, past the Arctic Biome to the Deforestation Zone and the WWF Scientist.

Your class is going on a field trip to visit the village near an Orangutan habitat.  Use the camera, book and quill, and portfolio from the inventory to document the trip.  Be sure to include any 'interviews' you have with the locals.  When you are finished, export what you have made and save it in your Google Drive for safekeeping.  Name it using the following convention: lastfirst_Safaritrip. Turn the portfolio in using the method your teacher chooses.
