Google Meet - There will be a Google Meet at 11:00 today for anyone who can join. If this is your first one, check the directions for joining Google Meets on our page for Thursday, January 6's Home Learning. (FYI - I think from now on I will keep our Google Meets at 11:00 daily. We've had the most students join at 11:00, so we'll go with that!)
Time: about 30 minutes
Materials Needed: Device for accessing Google Classroom
Reading - Snuggle up in your coziest spot with your books and read. You can read to yourself or ask a sibling, babysitter, parent, grandparent, etc to partner read with you - take turn reading and listening to each other. Another option is logging into Epic! (it is linked on our Google Classroom) and reading some books online.
Time: 20 minutes
Materials Needed: Books or device to access Epic! on Google Classroom
Langauage Arts - Play Teach Your Monster to Read to review letters, sounds and words! The link is on our Google Classroom.
Also, you can watch me read the book Sneezy the Snowman by Maureen Wright (you'll find the link on the 'Classwork' tab of our Google Classroom)
Time: 20 minutes
Materials Needed: device to access Google Classroom
Writing - What is your favorite thing to do in the snow? Yesterday you made a list of lots of different things that you can do in the snow. Today, I would like you to take one of your pieces of writing paper (with a place for a picture on the top, lines on the bottom) and write to tell me what you like to do in the snow. You can also draw a picture to show me what it might look like and add some color if you can. I am attaching a picture of a story I wrote below for an example. Notice how I left spaces between my words. I used a lot of word wall words in my writing. If you have your word ring at home, you could use it to help you write word wall words!
Time: 30 minutes
Materials Needed: writing paper, pencil, eraser, coloring tools
Writing Example -
Math - Number of the Day - pick one of your number cards and use that number to do the number of the day work.
The other math job I am giving you today is to find 100 objects to use for counting. Your 100 objects could be pieces of cereal (Cheerios/Fruit Loops/Shreddies, etc.), uncooked pasta pieces (macaroni), pieces of rice, beans, or even cut up pieces of paper would work. Any objects that you can easily use to count to 100. Your job today is to decide with an adult what you should use for your counting objects and then to count out 100 of them. Please keep them in a baggie or a container so you can use them again another day for Home Learning.
Time: 20 - 30 minutes
Materials Needed: number cards, paper/whiteboard for Number of the Day work, reference charts below for Number of the Day, 100 objects to use for counting
Health and Wellness - I am adding a Cosmic Kids Frozen Yoga to the Yoga link on the 'Classwork' tab of our Google Classroom. If the video does not work for you, you could ask an adult to search "Cosmic Kids Frozen Yoga" on Youtube (on a device other than a school chrome book)
Time: 30 minutes
Materials Needed: device to access Google Classroom
Specialist Class - Music or Phys. Ed- Check out Ms. Syndi's Music site for Home Learning or Ms. Ross's site for Phys. Ed. You can find them through this Google Site - they are both under the "Students" tab at the top of this page but I will also link them below. You can check both daily or alternate between the two from day to day.
