Google Meet - There will be a Google Meet at 11:00 today for anyone who can join.
Time: about 30 minutes
Materials Needed: Device for accessing Google Classroom
Reading - Snuggle up in your coziest spot with your books and read. You can read to yourself or ask a sibling, babysitter, parent, grandparent, etc. to partner read with you - take turn reading and listening to each other. Another option is logging into Epic! (it is linked on our Google Classroom) and reading some books online.
*** If your student is finding that they have read the books they have at home over and over, Epic! does have some books at their level to read, as well as books at higher levels that the computer reads to them. I have put some books into each student's Epic mailbox if they want to log on and check them out - just tell them to look for the bell in the top right corner - that will take them to their mailbox. The link to Epic! is on our Google Classroom main page or go to getepic.com. You can log in with our class code - zvb9129 **The Epic website is free for students to use at home during regular school hours**
Time: 30 minutes
Materials Needed: Books or device to access Epic! on Google Classroom
Langauage Arts -Play Teach Your Monster to Read to review letters, sounds and words. The link is on our Google Classroom. You could also play Teach Your Monster Reading for Fun.
I've added another read aloud - The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt to the Read Alouds with Mrs. Stewart at Home link on the Google Classroom
Time: 20 minutes
Materials Needed: device to access Google Classroom
Writing - Today's writing is to write to a prompt. The writing prompt is Tell me about the things you like to do in Winter. Students should write 2 sentences (or more if they can/want), remembering to leave spaces and do their best to sound out tricky words. Students should leave a period at the end of each sentence. One thing that we would be starting to focus on in school around this time of year is making sure that we use a capital (or uppercase) letter at the first of the sentence and lowercase letters for the rest. You can mention this to them before they start, then when they are done writing, you could get them to look at their writing to check if they used upper/lowercase letters appropriately.
I added a quick video, The Sentence Song, under the Language Arts tab on the Google Classroom Classwork tab that the students can watch to remind them about the capital at the first and punctuation mark at the end.
Time: 30 minutes
Materials Needed: paper, pencil, eraser, device to access Google Classroom
Math - Number of the Day - pick one of your number cards and use that number to do the number of the day work.
iknowit Math -

Class Code: 1b123
username: the student's first name
password: 12345
I have created assignments that the students will find on the main page after they log in. They click on one of the colored boxes and math questions will pop up for them. There are directions/questions that they won't be able to read, but there is a feature where the computer can read the directions to them - just have them click on the speaker icon.
Time: about 30 minutes
Materials Needed: number cards, paper/whiteboard for Number of the Day work, reference charts for Number of the Day, device to access Google Classroom/iknowit.com
Health and Wellness - I am adding Cosmic Kids Very Hungry Caterpillar Yoga to the Yoga link on the 'Classwork' tab of our Google Classroom.
I have added some How to Draw videos on the Art links on the 'Classwork' tab of our Google Classroom. Feel free to do those anytime you wish!
I have also added a few different virtual field trips to our Google Classroom Classwork page. You can check those out anytime you want to learn about and see some animals, sea creatures or a dinosaur exhibit.
