My Snowman!
I did it!
So proud!
Thanks for your help 1B!
Google Meet - There will be a Google Meet at 1:00 today for anyone who can join. If this is your first one, check the directions for joining Google Meets on our page for Thursday, January 6's Home Learning. (FYI - Tomorrow's Google Meet will be at 11:00am (Tuesday))
Time: about 30 minutes
Materials Needed: Device for accessing Google Classroom
Reading - Snuggle up in your coziest spot with your books and read. You can read to yourself or ask a sibling, babysitter, parent, grandparent, etc to partner read with you - take turn reading and listening to each other. Another option is logging into Epic! (it is linked on our Google Classroom) and reading some books online.
Time: 20 minutes
Materials Needed: Books or device to access Epic! on Google Classroom
Langauage Arts - Play Teach Your Monster to Read to review letters, sounds and words! The link is on our Google Classroom.
Also, you can watch me read the book Stella Queen of the Snow by Marie-Louise Gay (you'll find the link on the 'Classwork' tab of our Google Classroom)
Time: 20 minutes
Materials Needed: device to access Google Classroom
Writing - We are going to stick with the winter/snow theme for another day - today I would like you to make a list of 'Things You Can Do In The Snow'! Try to think of atleast 6 things for your list. You might get a few ideas by listening to the Stella Queen of the Snow read aloud!
Time: 20 minutes
Materials Needed: Paper, pencil, eraser, a device with a camera to take a picture of your writing to email to Mrs. Stewart (optional)
Math - Number of the Day - pick one of your number cards and use that number to do the number of the day work.
There are some counting videos on our Google Classroom (under the 'Classwork' tab) that you can listen to to help you pratice counting and skip counting.
Your other Math task today is to use your deck of cards to have a game of 'War' with a sibling/adult. This is a fun game to practice recognizing the bigger number quickly. If you don't know how to play this game, you can tune into the Google Meet at 1:00 - I will teach you how to play! If you can't join us for the Google Meet - here is a quick overview of the game: (I am assuming you are playing with 2 people) You can go through the deck of cards and take out all the letters - A, J, Q and K's. Put them in a safe spot so you don't lose them. Now you will have all the numbers 2-10 left. Next, deal the entire deck of cards out so that both players each have half of the cards. Then, hold your cards in a pile in your hand or put your pile down on the table/floor in front of you (face down). Both players turn over the top card in their pile. The player who turns over the BIGGER number gets to keep both cards. Add them to the bottom of your pile. If both players turn over the same number, it is a tie. Then, you have to do a tie breaker - to do that, both players turn over a card and say "W" then turn over another card and say "A" then turn over another card and say "R" (this is why the game is called WAR!) then turn over one more card. Whichever player has the BIGGER number on this card gets to keep ALL of those cards (the tie cards, the W, A, R and tie breaker cards). You keep playing the game until one player has no cards left. The winner gets a high five. Have fun!
Time: 30 minutes
Materials Needed: number cards, paper/whiteboard for Number of the Day work, reference charts below for Number of the Day, deck of cards
Health and Wellness - I am adding a Cosmic Kids T-Rex Yoga to the Yoga link on the 'Classwork' tab of our Google Classroom. If the video does not work for you, you could ask an adult to search "Cosmic Kids T-Rex Yoga" on Youtube (on a device other than a school chrome book)
Time: 20 minutes
Materials Needed: device to access Google Classroom
