Note to Families - In preparation for the return to in person learning on Monday, you can pick up masks and Covid test kits at Westwood on Thursday, January 27th from 2:00 - 6:00 pm and Friday, January 28th from 9:30 am - 1:00 pm. If you are unable to go during these times, you can have someone else pick them up for you. If you have borrowed a chrome book, you are asked to return it during those times as well. It wouldn't hurt to put your child's name on in (post-it/tape) to make sure it is recorded correctly upon return.
Google Meet - There will be a PJ Google Meet at 11:00 today for anyone who can join. Students are invited to wear their pajamas :-)

Reading - Snuggle up in your coziest spot with your books and read. You can read to yourself or ask a sibling, babysitter, parent, grandparent, etc. to partner read with you - take turn reading and listening to each other. Other options are logging into Epic! (it is linked on our Google Classroom) or Raz-Kids for reading online.
Time: 30 minutes
Materials Needed: Books or device to access Epic! or Raz-Kids on Google Classroom
Writing - Today's writing is to write to a prompt again. The writing prompt is Tell me about what kinds of books you like to read (in recognition of Family Literacy Day). Students should write 2 sentences (or more if they can/want), remembering to leave spaces and do their best to sound out tricky words. Students should leave a period at the end of each sentence. Remember to use a capital (or uppercase) letter at the first of the sentence and lowercase letters for the rest. You can mention this to them before they start, then when they are done writing, you could get them to look at their writing to check if they used upper/lowercase letters appropriately.
Time: 20-30 minutes
Materials Needed: paper, pencil, eraser
Math - Number of the Day - pick one of your number cards and use that number to do the number of the day work.
Math Arcade - I have added a Math Google Slide resource called Grade 1 Math Arcade. The kids can use this to play some Math games today. There is a link to it on the Stream (main) page of our Google Classroom.
