Google Meet - There will be a Google Meet at 11:00 today for anyone who can join.
Time: about 30 minutes
Materials Needed: Device for accessing Google Classroom
Reading - Snuggle up in your coziest spot with your books and read. You can read to yourself or ask a sibling, babysitter, parent, grandparent, etc. to partner read with you - take turn reading and listening to each other. Another option is logging into Epic! (it is linked on our Google Classroom) and reading some books online.
Time: 20 - 30 minutes
Materials Needed: Books or device to access Epic! on Google Classroom
Langauage Arts - Play Teach Your Monster to Read to review letters, sounds and words! The link is on our Google Classroom. You could also try out their new game, Teach Your Monster Reading for Fun.
Also, you can watch me read the book Snowmen at Work by Caralyn Buehner (you'll find the link on the 'Classwork' tab of our Google Classroom)
Time: 20 - 30 minutes
Materials Needed: device to access Google Classroom
Writing - We haven't done a lot of writing work with our Sight Words/Word Wall Words, so today I thought we should revisit them and practice writing them. If you have your word ring at home, you can use that to flip through and remind you of the words we have learned so far in 1B. See if you can write the words after you read them. If you forget, you could look again to see the letters. You could practice each word a couple of times to help your brain remember it. You can use paper, a pencil, crayons, markers, pencil crayons, a whiteboard and your whiteboard marker - anything will do!
I am also going to post a Sight Word Slideshow Presentation on the Classwoork tab of the Google Classroom with some links to some sightword videos that you could use instead of the word ring or if you don't have your word ring. Watch the video and practice writing each sight word as they show it on the screen. See if you can write it a couple of times.
Time: 20 - 30 minutes
Materials Needed: something to write on/with, word ring and/or device to access Google Classroom
Math - Number of the Day - pick one of your number cards and use that number to do the number of the day work.
Counting - Today you will need your number cards and your 100 objects for counting.
Step 1 - Flip your number cards upside down so you can't see the numbers. Mix them up and then pick one. Use your 100 objects to count that many. If your number card was 18, then count out 18 of your objects. You could also use your ten frames (printed on pink card stock) and put those objects on the ten frames (this part is optional). Keep picking out a number and then counting that many objects for about 10 minutes.
Step 2 - Use your hundred chart (printed on blue card stock) or randonmly choose a number in your head between 20 and 40. Now, use your objects and count that many. Then, take those objects and make groups of 10. You may have some objects left over. For example, if you choose the number 39, you will have 3 groups of 10 and 9 more. 26 would be two groups of 10 and 6 more. Next, do the same with a number between 40 and 70. How many groups of 10? How many more? Finally, repeat with any number between 70 and 100!
We've talked before at our Morning Meetings about what each number means - remember the first number (ex: the 4 in 45) means how many groups of 10 there are in that number and the second number (ex: the 5 in 45) means how many ones there are (which are how many more/extra there are in this activity above).
Time: about 30 minutes
Materials Needed: number cards, paper/whiteboard for Number of the Day work, reference charts for Number of the Day, 100 objects to use for counting, (optional) printed ten frames (pink cardstock) and hundred chart (blue cardstock)
Health and Wellness - I am adding Cosmic Kids Going on a Bear Hunt Yoga to the Yoga link on the 'Classwork' tab of our Google Classroom. If the video does not work for you, you could ask an adult to search "Cosmic Kids Bear Hunt Yoga" on Youtube (on a device other than a school chrome book)
Time: 20 minutes
Materials Needed: device to access Google Classroom
