Google Meet - There will be a Google Meet at 11:00 today for anyone who can join.
Time: about 30 minutes
Materials Needed: Device for accessing Google Classroom
Reading - Snuggle up in your coziest spot with your books and read. You can read to yourself or ask a sibling, babysitter, parent, grandparent, etc. to partner read with you - take turn reading and listening to each other. Another option is logging into Epic! (it is linked on our Google Classroom) and reading some books online.
*** If your student is finding that they have read the books they have at home over and over, Epic! does have some books at their level to read, as well as books at higher levels that the computer reads to them. I have put some books into each student's Epic mailbox if they want to log on and check them out - just tell them to look for the bell in the top right corner - that will take them to their mailbox. The link to Epic! is on our Google Classroom main page or go to getepic.com. You can log in with our class code - zvb9129 **The Epic website is free for students to use at home during regular school hours**
Time: 20 - 30 minutes
Materials Needed: Books or device to access Epic! on Google Classroom
Langauage Arts -Play Teach Your Monster to Read to review letters, sounds and words. The link is on our Google Classroom. You could also play Teach Your Monster Reading for Fun.
I've added another read aloud - part 2 of The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt to the Read Alouds with Mrs. Stewart at Home link on the Google Classroom
Time: 20 minutes
Materials Needed: device to access Google Classroom
Writing - It's My Favorite Part Friday! Writing about your favorite part of one of the books you’ve read
Pick one of the books that you read today or in the past few days. Think about what your favorite part of that book was. Tell me the name of the book, what your favorite part was and why it was your favorite part. This is just like the writing activity we did before Christmas at the mat for Literacy Stations. (You can also draw a picture of your favorite part.) Remember you can use your book to help you with names and tricky words!
Some examples -
I read A Birthday cake for Ben. I liked when Ben's mom made him a dinosaur cake. I love dinosaurs just like Ben!
or
I read the book Presents! I like the part when the porcupine opens his present because the balloons bust and it is funny.
or
I read Wake Up Dad. My favorite part is when Mom says "Wake up dad!" really loud because dad falls out of the bed and it made me laugh.
Time: 20 - 30 minutes
Materials Needed: pencil, eraser, paper to write on, one of the books you've read lately (optional)
Math - Number of the Day - pick one of your number cards and use that number to do the number of the day work.
Counting - Watch the Counting Videos on the Google Claaroom to practice counting by 1's, 5's and 10's to 100, and by 2's to 20.
For the remainder of your Math time today, you can go to the abcya.com link on our Google Classroom ( it is down a bit on the main Stream page) and pick a Math game to play
