Students will study from 3 of the following tasks from September - February:
Australia [Coral Reef_Illustrations]
South America [Spix's Macaws_digital art]

What Can I Learn From Beyond The UK?
In Art this year you will begin to 'explore' the Formal Elements (known as the building blocks of Art) beyond the skills learned in Year 7. You will be taught in workshop format learning a range of skills in print making, experimental painting, digital art alongside making work in ceramics, textiles and painting.
1) Research
In this phase of the project you will research an element of endangerment from one of the seven continents. Your research will be presented in an artistically creative manner which will develop your sketchbook presentation techniques.
2) Explore
In this phase you will begin to explore a new artistic technique in workshop format. These new and exciting techniques will link to your research as you develop your visual communication skills.
3) Record
In this phase you will record your findings in your sketchbook, presenting your work in a clear and coherent manner. You will learn how to communicate clear messages to your audience.
These skills will help you to develop ways of thinking and learning in preparation for Year 9 in which you will 'Apply Skills' learned in Years 7 and 8 in project based working; sequencing and connecting ideas.
