What Shapes Our Identity; [We Live Where We Live]
In Art this year you will be introduced to the Formal Elements (known as the building blocks of Art).
1) Build contextual knowledge of artists, designers, craftspeople and movements
Through shape, form, line, pattern, texture, colour and space you will explore a range of artists, designers, craftspeople and movements. You will attempt to understand how these artists have contributed to art and its history by considering how their legacy informs our practice today.
2) Develop an artistic skill set
These artists will inspire the learning behind our techniques and processes as we look to develop your artistic skill set and confidence. We will expose you to new and old mediums to help you form a bedrock of skills to support your art career at CHS.
3) Experiment, explore and develop creative ideas
As we develop this artistic skill set we will look to help you find your own artistic language and we will do this by exploring the world around you. Using the place where you live you will begin to create pieces of art that reflect the influence that this place has upon who we are.
4) Realise intentions and present outcomes.
Finally, we will complete a final outcome in the Summer Term which will respond to all of the skills that you have developed this year. You will make a final piece in either Ceramics, Textiles or 2D painting and drawing. This piece will look to celebrate the place where you live. After all, we live where we live.
