Setting is both the time and place a story occurs. A setting may change throughout a narrative and can be fictional (made up).
You will be given a random image of a setting. Using the image, complete the worksheet below by writing a definition of setting and then giving examples under each of the five senses.
For your image, think about...
What does it look like? (Sight)
What does it sound like? (Sound)
What does it smell like? (Smell)
What does it taste like? (Taste)
What can you feel? (Touch)
For example, if you were in a hospital what could you see, hear, smell, taste and touch?
Your teacher will give you a copy of the Roll a Story template. Cut and glue the template to make a die and roll it to get a randomised setting.
Use this setting to write a short story under timed conditions. Get creative!
