Create and deliver a presentation taking advantage of multiple media and representation types
Iterate on documents to communicate information with increased relevancy to a target audience.
Students begin to develop the narration element of their presentation. This is the last dedicated time students will have to work on their presentations. Students work as a team to build their presentation with the goal to inspire another pair of students to leave their disease and become part of the website team for their disease. Students add any additional features they want or need. Students that do not need to make changes or that finish early, can begin the narration task in Activity 2. The following expects the teacher to model using PPT. Students who are not using PPT will need to make a voice narration or video presenting their presentation so that other students can view their presentation independently.
Activity 1 (Budget 1:40 minutes)
Student teams develop their presentation.
Students divide up tasks between each other to fill in their presentation.
NOTE: Students will require recording devices to provide narration to their slides. Students will need to be considerate of others when recording in the classroom. Students may need to complete recordings at home or in quiet environments. If this is not possible, these days can be used instead to allow students to present in-class to each other.
Activity 2 (Budget 15 minutes)
Teacher models how students can narrate a PowerPoint deck.
Teacher can use the slide show provided as a short example of a narrated slide show. Teacher can provide a link to, or can show in-class, the Instructions for Narrating a Slide Show Video. The how-to video is short and includes a bit about rehearsing first.
The teacher should briefly model the narration for a couple of slides and show how the slides play back.
Activity 3. (Budget 1:15 minutes)
Students narrate their PowerPoint deck.
Students use the notes section on each slide in their presentation to write out exactly what they will say on the slide.
Students record a fully narrated presentation. Students will need recording devices (microphones) and will need to rehearse and record numerous times. The teacher should be prepared to troubleshoot technical issues and keep the noise level down in the classroom.
Students should play back the fully narrated presentation and make sure that they are clear and can be understood by their peers.
