Students will create a digital artifact representing the evolution of their innovation, from problem to product.
Part of the website challenge is the Evolution of the Innovation. Students will create a digital artifact that shows the history of the innovation, from the problem to the product. Students will be researching the history of the problem and how the innovation came about. They will also be exploring and using digital tools to create the artifact.
Explain what an Evolution of Innovation artifact is. Here are some samples. IBM Watson and Visual Effects are student created artifacts.
Once students have viewed the samples, ask them to brainstorm the components and order of the components to create a successful artifact. A basic list would be
Research the history. What was the underlying problem the innovation was trying to solve? Were there other potential solutions? What was the timeline?
Decide on the type of artifact you want to make.
Determine what tools you need to create this artifact.
Assign team members to the various roles
Encourage students to go beyond a static timeline. They can get creative with this project and make videos, prezis, cartoon strips, etc. Students should explore and learn new digital tools.
