Basketball Startup: The Cheerleaders’ Perspective 

As football games, unfortunately, come to an end basketball season gets underway. Kids from all over the school of different ages and grades are preparing to dribble into the 2024 season of layups. The cheerleaders have mixed emotions from missing their friends to being excited about basketball. Junior high cheer captain Ashlyn says, “I'm excited because I love basketball cheer, but I am sad that some of my friends are leaving.” Ashlyn is thrilled about getting to cheer at the basketball games she will miss her friends dearly, but overall is happy to start something new. The junior high co-captain Addi agreed saying, “I’m a little upset about losing so much of my stunt group, but I’m excited about the new season.” Addi is enthusiastically ready to start cheering again, and to get on the court. Coach Tawni says, “I'm excited to transition into basketball season, and I’m always excited to see new girls.” Coach Tawni is always uplifting and proud of her girls, she can not wait to see what basketball season brings. This past season has been many things; football's been happy, stressful, exciting, and most of all fun. We are all waiting to see what this next chapter in the year will bring.
