On October 25, Covenant hosted the Blue and White Gala at The Homestead Venue. The Gala is an annual auction held to raise money beyond what tuition fees cover.
“All of the proceeds go to Faith in Action, our annual fund,” Director of Development, Deana Wood said. “This year's goal is $600,000. Projects included this year are tuition support, Spiritual and Professional Development, Community and Campus Improvement (this includes Grove and kitchen upgrades), Transportation and Athletics, Technology and our Endowment.”
Major events like this take a lot of planning and hard work, and CCS is very blessed to have many people who help to make the Gala a success.
“There is a committee of wonderful parents that come together to plan,” Wood said. “They start a year in advance. They find sponsors and auction items. They find ways to make the event exciting. This year we had a heads or tails game. The overall winner won a trip to Steamboat Springs, Co! As the Director of Development, I am here to support the committee. I help secure sponsors and try to help our school family get excited about the event.”
Many of the high school students offered their services as helpers for the night. They directed the parents and staff that attended the event and acted as hosts for the Gala.
“I was kind of nervous because I’ve never done that before, and I’m not a big social person,” junior Preslyn Munson said. “But I also was excited to help out with this because I knew it would be a good thing to get out of that bubble. I actually feel like everyone was really helpful.”
Seniors Everett Reynolds and Andrew Chandler even played live music in the entrance as guests began to file in.
“We started last year, it was just a little fun thing we decided to do, and we figured we might as well do it again,” Reynolds said. “I’d say it was a really good auction house… It was the same kind of thing that me and Andrew did, where we just played whatever we felt like playing, and people enjoyed it, so it was a good time.”
With all hands on deck, it turned out to be a very successful night, raising over $357,000 for CCS.
“We are blessed with an amazingly generous school family,” Wood said. “I am so thankful for the committee for working so hard to make the event a success, but also so grateful for the families who give with grateful hearts!”
