Easter is coming up faster than you think. Soon, there will be colorful eggs in your yard. On the day of the Lord, our Savior, Jesus Christ, rose from the dead, defeating death itself. This holiday seems so small and is often looked at as a small, unimportant holiday by most Americans. This is a day many look at as a holiday of eggs, candy, bunnies, and fun colors. It's one of the most overlooked holidays of the year; however, under the scenes, it’s one of the most important. Instead of celebrating bunnies and candy, celebrate Jesus saving you. Put yourself in that day and time… carrying a hard, heavy cross on your back, knowing it will soon cause your end.
Jesus was so strong through it all, even though they sinned against him and killed him, Jesus still asked the Lord to forgive them. Jesus forgave those who wronged him and stood up for them. Jesus was laid in the tomb, tears running down the faces of his loved ones. Three days later, on Easter day, he rose; he survived, he woke up, and the sin of man was taken away. He took on OUR sins, the pain, suffering, and hurt of man. A perfect man, the only perfect man to ever walk on Earth, died for YOU! You have to keep your sights on what the real meaning of Easter is. 1 Peter 2:24 ESV says, “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds, you have been healed.” This verse shows how important Easter truly is. Never forget how much the Lord has sacrificed for you. When Easter comes this year, don't say, “I can’t wait for candy.” No, instead say, “Thank you, Lord, for what you did for us.” Focus on the true meaning of Easter, then you shall experience a true Easer.
