I hope you all enjoyed your first weekend of Fall! We are so excited to welcome in the new season! We have started doing several Fall activities and learning about Johnny Appleseed in honor of his birthday last Friday! We are also looking forward to reading Halloween stories and doing spooky art projects as October begins!

As we continue to move forward with our sight words, I wanted to share a link with those of you who feel like learning and/or remembering the words is difficult for your child. This will take you to a site that has cards with sight words that have action based clues embedded in the words, and gives tips for movements and actions that may help the student remember the words. Reading is a developmental skill that happens at different times for different children. It is just like walking or talking, having their teeth come in, or learning to ride a bike; all of these stages are different for everyone! If you are interested, this is the link:
Remember, if you see that there are sight words they are struggling with at the end of the week, after reviewing them on their Rapid Reading Grid every night, please add these words to the bottom of the new week's Rapid Reading chart. If they are having trouble remembering several words, please place them on flashcards, and continue reviewing them every night.

"VIP"
Virtues in Practice (VIP) is a program CCS has to help children grow closer to Jesus by imitating His life and virtues. It is
set up in such a way that our whole school studies the same virtue each month, to provide a whole-school
(and at home, whole-family) focus. The program covers (27) virtues over a three-year cycle, with (81) Saints held
up as models of the virtues. Our September virtue is Charity and we are learning about St. Gertrude.

We will be learning about apples and Johnny Appleseed in honor of his birthday. Please send your child's favorite type of apple to school this week
for sorting and comparing activities.

Please send a stuffed animal to school on Friday with your child. We will be having a "mock pet blessing" in honor of St. Francis' feast day on October 4th.
