Dear Parents,

Letter homework will continue this week; capital and lowercase of one letter in the same night. Please make sure they are taking their time, and completing it neatly! Continue reminding them to hold their pencil correctly and keep their middle finger UNDER the pencil, and make sure their homework is done in pencil! The letter handwriting pages need to be returned every morning on the return side of the folder, and BOTH sides need to be completed.

Remember, if you see that there are sight words they are struggling with at the end of the week, after reviewing them on their Rapid Reading Grid every night, please add these words to the bottom of the new Rapid Reading chart. Assessments are stamped “sign and return” and are placed in the “return to school” side of the folders on Tuesdays or Thursdays (if we have ones to send that week). This is so they will not be confused with the work that you keep at home on Wednesdays. Please look over the assessments when they are sent home, and document what needs to be reinforced. Sign the top sheet and make sure to return them to school. Use these assessments to gauge what they need extra work on at home. Thank you for all your help and support.

"VIP"
Virtues in Practice (VIP) is a program CCS has to help children grow closer to Jesus by imitating His life and virtues. It is
set up in such a way that our whole school studies the same virtue each month, to provide a whole-school
(and at home, whole-family) focus. The program covers (27) virtues over a three-year cycle, with (81) Saints held
up as models of the virtues. Our September virtue is Charity and we are learning about St. Gertrude.
