Students begin each day with a short advisory period. During this time, attendance is taken and school communications are read to students. The goal of advisory is for teachers and students to have a bonding relationship so that students will feel comfortable to bring forward any concerns they may have to their teacher advisors.
Advisory activities are organized in terms of themes: Getting Acquainted, Safety, Study Skills, Self-esteem, Accepting Responsibility/Leadership, Friendship, Cultural Diversity & Appreciating Differences, School Achievements & Work, Conflict Resolution/Bullying, Understanding & Helping Our School, Moving & Transition, Issues Related to Personal Health.
Once every nine day, students will have a longer block of Advisory time. During this time, students will engage in a "deep dive" into one of the Advisory themes or work together on a grade or school-level activity.
