A storyboard is a visual plan which details how a website might be laid out. It will give a good idea of what the website will look like once complete and where the key elements will be placed. Other things it might include:
Page Layout and Background Colours
Font: content, size, colour, type and style.
Pictures: Size, placement and content.
Navigation Menu
Additional Features: Scrolling Marquee, Video/Audio, Hit Counter, Carousel, Contact Us form, Social Media Links, Hyperlinks.
The storyboard should give a good idea of how the finished site will look, you will lose marks if your storyboard does not look like your actual website. You must include detail about each element of your story board.
Text explain size, style and what it's about briefly.
Images/Video explain size and content briefly.
Layout Use boxes to show the overall layout of your page and colourscheme etc... Sizes should also be included.
Navigation Menu Include your menu bar, links and colour scheme.
Additional Features Clearly identify all additional features you have used.
Form Include colour, font and questions. Size should also be included.
A navigation structure diagram is a plan to show how the pages in a website are linked together. This follows a hierarchical structure with the home page being at the top. You need to show links to all internal pages (5/6) and external pages (Links to pages outside of this site) if you wish to achieve full marks for this section. You must clearly indicate which pages are external, consider changing their colour or writing the word external in them. You can also show links to other external elements such as videos.
You will be using Google Sites to make the webpage. You must read the scenario carefully and make sure you produce a website which is fit for purpose. Each page should have a range of appropriate content including text, images and videos. Avoid having pages with one sentence or image if possible. It is also important to ensure your webpage is consistent across all pages if you wish to achieve top marks. They usually ask for a 5/6 page website and it must include at least 5 of the following additional features :
Scrolling Marquee,
Video/Audio
Hit Counter
Carousel
Rollover Buttons
Contact Us form
Social Media Links
Hyperlinks
The quality and detail of your writing is also important here. It is vital you proofread every page before submitting. Remember any changes must also be reflected in your storyboards.!
You need to send the plan to Let’s Explore NI via email for approval letsexploreni@outlook.com. You should include a suitable title and use good email etiquette. You will need to take a print-screen of the email showing you have used a title, attachment and good etiquette. You also need to take a print screen of the reply you receive. Both printscreens must be added to your controlled assessment document.
