Script
Shot List
Production schedule and Call Sheets (Example at bottom of page)
Production log - After each recording session (call sheet) explain how you managed the recording for that part. Include logistics (Time, Equipment, Personnel). As always look for things you did well and things which can be improved.
Location recce
Production budget
Please consider the points below when producing your final documentation for this unit.
Storyboard
Create a Storyboard for your production showing the key scenes for your film.
You need to include Shot type, Duration, Dialogue that will be in the scene (diagetic/ non-diagetic?) and SFX (sound, special effects, filters etc.)
REMEMBER: You don’t have to be the best artist, you just need to show your scene in enough detail.
These do not necessarily need to be in the same document but should be closs together in your document.
Task 2 – Production Schedule
Create a Production Schedule for the production of your short film.
This should indicate When something has been created, What the job is, what you need to do, who will do it and when it will be finished by.
Look at the example below this section to help you.
Task 3 – Production Budget Research
Complete your budget for all items including actors, camera workers , equipment etc... This will need to be more detailed than your unit 4 work.:
Here are some links to help you:
Task 4 – Location Recce
Most of you have done this, again just copy it across and adapt if necessary.
Task 5 – Contributor Release Forms
Complete Contributor Relase Forms for anyone who is appearing in your film as an actor / extra
You need one per person that is appearing in your film.
Task 7 – Location Release Forms
As well as contributor release forms you will need to get location release forms created and signed.
EXAMPLE Location clearance letter basic
STUDENT location-clearance-completed
You need one per location that you will use in your film.
Task 8 – Script
For your cast and crew to understand what you require them to say / do / film you need to have a script. Again you have this done buy may need to adapt. This should have the words spoken and on screen actions. You should also include information on lighting, sounds and mise en scene.
Task 9 – Film Content
Collect the film footage according to your planning. You need to keep all of the footage you take and other elements you get from the internet. These should be referenced in a table using the following format. It is vital any stock images, music/sound effects or footage you use are taken from other sources are references clearly.
Asset Name: File Type : Description: Source:
This Learning Aim is mostly about Post-Production and Evaluating the project.
Task 1 – Edit film
Edit the footage you have collected. Make a note of editing techniques you have used on your production. This can be a simple document with some printscreens documenting your editing process. Consider briefly explaining the editing tasks carried out during each sessions and include printscreens. Do not forget to transitions, filters, fades, effects added etc....
Any sound / music/ images/moving images used must be copyright free or fully referenced.
Task 2 – Upload film
Upload your film to either Youtube / Vimeo and include link in your document.
Task 3 – Evaluation
Evaluate all aspects of your final product with particular reference to...
You must mention:
Your approach to film making ( how you set out to film it, what inspired you).
The genre you intended your film to be.
Explanation of each scene. (Why did you film it this way? / Why did you include certain scenes / camera angles?)
The codes and conventions of that genre you tried to implement.
Does the finished film match you envisioned?
What were the limitations?
How well do you think you carried out the project?
What would you change in the future?
