What makes a good presentation?
Why might a business need to make a presentation?
How might the audience affect the way we design a presentation?
A presentation is a digital file used to present key ideas or findings through the use of a screen and a presenter who will lead the presentation and discuss key points. Presentations include text, images and even multimedia elements like music, videos and animations. The presentation should make good use of formatting options, animations and transitions to keep the audience engaged.
A Master slide is a template which is used to ensure all other slides follow a consistent style and layout. Here we can define the background colour and font options.
These are buttons which can be used to perform certain actions within a presentation. They are often used to link to other slides within a presentation, websites or other files. They are created usually by adding an auto shape and adding a hyperlink to it.
A hyperlink is a link to a website or other document. If the user clicks on the link the website or document will be opened up.
These are used to make a presentation look more visually appealing. A transition is an animated affect which is played as one slide transitions to the next. An animation can be added to individual elements such as text, images or autoshapes to highlight or draw the users attention to them through movement. These should be used carefully as overuse can switch the audience off.
These allow the presenter to add notes to each slide to help when delivering the presentation. These will not be shown to the audience but can be displayed on the presenter's screen or printed to aid delivery of the presentation.
These are used to make slides and animations move at a predefined time. These can be set to loop a presentation over and over or to help delivery. Most presenters will use a clicker to manually progress through the different slides as it can be difficult to plan exactly how long a slide should show for.
When printing out slide shows we can print out full size with each slide one A4 page, or in handout form with muliiple slides displayed on an A4 page. We can also decide to include notes in print outs.
