progress - moving toward a goal or development
anxious - worried; concerned; nervous
cozy - snuggly, warm, and comfortable
trapeze - a short, horizontal bar suspended by two parallel ropes that acrobats can fly or swing from; usually at a circus
negative - harmful, unpleasant, not positive
leapfrog - a children's game in which players vault over each other's stooped backs
gills - organs that allow fish to breathe underwater
Story Elements: Plot & Theme
Plot is the series of events that make up a story; the beginning, middle, and end as well as all the events in between.
Theme is the message or "big idea" of the story that the author wishes the reader to learn by the ending.
