4.4 Vocabulary & Drawing Conclusions
promenade deck - an upper deck on a passenger ship that extends the length of the vessel allowing passengers to enjoy the open air
commotion - a state of confused and noisy disturbance
glint - a small flasgh of light, especially as reflected from a shiny surface
churning - the powerful, unpredictable, and violent moving or agitating of liquid
stampede - a sudden rapid movement or reaction of a mass of people or animals in response to a circumstance
seeping - the slow leak or flow of liquid through a small hole, gap, or other opening
stoker - a person who tends to the fire on a steamship by shoveling fuel, such as coal, into the furnace
Drawing Conclusions
A conclusion is a decision or opinion that makes sense based on given facts and details in a text. When you combine information you read with information you already know to make decisions about a text, you are drawing conclusions.
