3.2 Vocabulary & Graphic Sources / Text Features
javelin - a light spear thrown in a competitive athletic event
contract - a written or spoken agreement that is intended to be enforced by law (i.e. employment, sales)
natural - being born with a particular skill, quality, or ability
scouts - a person looking for suitably talented people for recruitment to one's own organization or sport's team
league - a group of sports clubs that play each other over a period of time for a championship
segregation - the action of setting someone apart from others due to race
draft - selecting a person and bringing them somewhere for a certain purpose
Graphic Sources / Text Features
Maps, charts, diagrams, illustrations, captions, and photos are examples of graphic sources. These additional visual text features help a reader better understand information as we we read or add additional information that was not discussed in the text. These examples also organize information into easy to read and quick to understand visuals.
